Vitamodo School · Bundle 11: Disorder Theory · Brochure 5 of 10 · Version 1.0
Andris Saulitis, MD
For those who: have noticed the word «anxiety» being used for two different things — the anxiety with wired sentry-focus that does not yield to situation-change, and the anxiety that is substantively appropriate registration of actual threat — and who want the substantive procedure for distinguishing which one is in front of them and what substantive treatment each requires.
Not for those who: are confronting Bundle 11's foundation for the first time, or who are in acute panic or suicidal crisis. Read 11.1–11.4 first; in acute crisis, the right unit is acute clinical engagement.
What this is — the clinical reality
This is the fifth brochure of Bundle 11. The fourth brochure applied the bundle's substrate-vs-response distinction to depression. This brochure applies the same distinction to anxiety — the most common comorbidity with depression and the second territory where the conflation 11.1 named has substantial documented cost. The structure mirrors 11.4 because the procedure mirrors 11.4: same foundation, same hero method, applied here to the anxiety cluster rather than the depression cluster, producing the substantive identification on paper that opens the right work.
The brochure is for the reader who has noticed the word «anxiety» being used for two substantively different things. The anxiety with the wired sentry-focus — the amygdala that has been trained by chronic stress or substrate-vulnerability to operate in the regime of unceasing vigilance, the panic features that arrive without external trigger, the family pattern that confirms substrate. And the anxiety that is the substantively appropriate registration of actual threat — the financial precariousness, the relational instability, the medical situation, the substantive life-circumstance where the alarm is the right response to what is happening. The word covers both; the treatment that follows from each is different; the alarm tells you something is wrong but does not tell you whether the wrong thing is inside or outside.
A note on substrate before we go further. The book substrate for this brochure is extremely strong because Bundle 8 has already done substantial work on the underlying mechanisms. «Psychosomatics Without Esotericism» contains the sentry-focus chapter, the amygdala-hypothalamus cascade, the amygdala-hijack passage, the sympathetic-shift cascade, the panic-attack chapter with its «do not fight, allow to pass» treatment principle, the fear-vs-anxiety distinction, the polyvagal three-states framing, the breathing intervention, the hippocampus-as-context passage, the CBT-as-evidence-based recognition. «The End of the Era of Pills for Life» supplies the substrate-treatment paradigm cross-cited from 11.4 — the 30%-efficacy honesty applies to anxiety medications as to depression medications. «Three Pencils. Extension» supplies the three-pencils method cross-cited from 11.3 — the operational instrument the identification is made with on paper. The spoken material — Andris's dedicated panic-attack lecture, the sentry-focus video, the benzodiazepine-tolerance warning, the breathing demonstrations — supplements but does not replace the published book substrate.
